I R A T E  D O G
In Colt We Trust

Recent email responses to some of my posts have accused me of being “unfair” to President Obummer.   The
majority of these emails from the kool-aid drinkers claim that I am utterly incapable of giving the President credit for
anything good – no matter how trivial.

So, I want to give President Obummer “credit” for something here.

Even though I’m absolutely certain he never intended to do this, I’ll give him credit for pushing the American people
right back to where our Founding Fathers wanted us to be in the first place.

Obummer has ignited a much needed re-examination of the 2nd Amendment.  Thanks entirely to the policies he’s put
in place, and the underhanded tactics he’s used to effect his “change”, the 2nd Amendment has begun to mean
something to people who never gave it a passing thought before, and its importance has been reinforced to the rest
of us.

The Second Amendment exists to preserve and uphold the other Amendments in the Bill of Rights and the
Constitution’s strict limitations on government.  That’s why it's constantly under attack from Big Government
politicians and feeble-minded liberal utopians.   As President George Washington once said:
"Firearms are second
only to the Constitution in importance; they are the peoples' liberty's teeth."
Obummer and his cronies don’t like that.

I remember Obummer’s campaign talk about “hope and change” in 2008.   His campaign bullshit fooled enough
people to get elected.   Now we know beyond all doubt that a large part of the “change” he was promising would
increase the size and scope of an already-intrusive government.   How else was he going to “spread the wealth
around” or “fundamentally transform America”?

“Generations from now we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to
provide care for the sick and good jobs for the jobless. This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to
slow and our planet began to heal.”

Over three years later, Obummer’s fundamental transformation has worsened our nation’s economic health and
destroyed our standing in the world.   He’s even been forced to admit publicly that he doesn’t “control the weather.”

Obummercare threatens to destroy our entire healthcare system.   Trillions of dollars have been borrowed and
wasted on “shovel ready jobs” that will never see a shovel.   His policies have placed record millions on food stamps,
and unemployment remains well over 8% (the reduction coming almost totally from people who’ve simply quit trying
to find a job.)   Billions of dollars have been thrown at losing “green” energy propositions like Solyndra.   Ethanol
subsidies have done little to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, but much to increase the cost of food.   Obummer’
s Executive orders have been signed to prohibit drilling for our own abundant sources of oil.

So Obummer’s promises of hope and change turned out to be nothing more than a catchy campaign slogan.   Still, he
has succeeded, somewhat, in fundamentally changing America.   As a result citizens are becoming more and more
nervous and unsettled.

Obummer has given us big government on an unprecedented scale in spite of all evidence to the contrary showing
that everyone’s sick and tired of big government.

So I’ll also give him credit for reminding me what Thomas Jefferson wrote:
“A government big enough to give you
everything you want, is big enough to take everything you have.”
(By my count, that’s two “credits” for you kool-aid
drinkers!)

When you add Obummer’s support of the Occupy Wall Street protests, his preferential treatment of big Union thugs
like Richard Trumka, and his non-stop class warfare rhetoric, all hope disappears.

And let’s not forget that more than 1,000 weapons are still loose on the streets following Obummer’s and Holder’s
Operation Fast and Furious.   Is it really any wonder that the American people feel as unsafe physically as they do
unsure financially?   People are beginning to realize that their personal safety is entirely in their hands.

That’s why private gun sales went through the roof on black Friday this year.   According to an FBI report, there was a
32% increase in gun sales over the previous one-day record (ironically enough, set on black Friday in 2008 - just
weeks after Obummer had been elected.) This means that in a 24 hour period, the FBI was asked to do nearly
130,000 background checks for gun purchases around the country.

A large percentage of the increase in sales was handgun purchases for females. (Women were coming in with their
husbands to buy concealed carry handguns to keep in their purses or on their persons.)  Do you remember hearing
about the 66 year old woman whose house was being broken into while she was home?   She called 911, told them
about the intruder and told them she had a gun.   The 911 operator told her to put her gun down.   The woman shot the
intruder once but he still tried breaking in.   So she shot him a second time and killed him.   If she’d listened to the 911
operator, she’d be dead and the scumbag intruder goes to jail for 6 to 10 years.

The right to "keep and bear arms" doesn't mean to simply own them, it means to be able to carry them, loaded, on
your person.   The Smith & Wesson .38 and Sig Sauer’s .380 were flying off the shelves on black Friday.   I guess it’s
much easier than carrying a police officer with you at all times.

So, I’ll give Obummer a little credit, here.   He’s raised America’s awareness of the 2nd Amendment - the Amendment
of last resort.

When all other ways of keeping the government in check have failed, our Founding Fathers gave us the “Off” switch.
To quote George Washington, again:  "The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil
interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that's good."

In other words, “In Colt We Trust.”
