2. To live in peace with another or others despite differences, especially as a matter of policy.
Has anyone else seen these on the bumpers of automobiles around town or in your neighborhoods?
These "clever" bumper stickers, no doubt conceived and produced by self-proclaimed, "clever" intellectuals, seem to
be appearing more and more. Every letter/ symbol represents a "system of thought": The “C” is an adapted version of
the crescent moon and star, a common symbol of Islam; the “O" is a peace sign which became popular as the “peace
sign" due to the fact that it was simple to draw; The “E" is a combination of the male and female symbols (when
combined, the two symbols suggest transsexualism); the "X" is the star of David for Judaism; the “I" is dotted with a
star in a circle, a common pagan or Wiccan symbol; the “S" is an adaptation of an Oriental symbol of “yin and yang", the
two opposing but equal forces found in nature and represent Buddhism and/or Taoism; and, finally the "T" for the cross
of Christianity.
It's a wonderfully touchy-feely, type of sentiment. Full of that wimpy, sappy, blind faith in the ability to "get along" by
negotiating, compromising or "finding common ground" that intellectuals seem to love so much. Full of "hope"; full of
"change"; full of "possibilities"; full of peace.
Full of bullshit.
I haven't noticed any nightly news reports or read any front page newspaper articles about radical, extremist Christians,
Taoists, Buddhists, Jews or Wiccans (modern day witches) flying planes into buildings or detonating bombs in packed
market places. And with the possible exception of the Global Whining "consensus", not many scientists are actively
engaged in beheading defenseless people. These types may proudly display their "co-exist" sentiments on their
personal modes of transportation, but my guess is, you won't find many of these bumper stickers in Iran or Afghanistan
or Saudi Arabia or Egypt or any other of the scores of nations under the 'crescent and star'.
There's only one reason for this: these 'people' can't tolerate anyone who isn't a strict follower of Allah. There are no
allowances for any deviations. There are no differences of opinion. There's no such thing as extenuating or mitigating
circumstances and ignorance of the Koran is no excuse. Which means that we are ALL infidels that must be
eliminated like diseased dogs.
I remember a scene from "Independence Day" when the President (Bill Pullman) speaks to the captured alien about
"learning from each other"; "learning to co-exist"; and asks "can there be a peace between us?" Do you remember the
alien's response?
Alien: "Peace? No peace."
President: "Then what do you want us to do?"
Alien: "Die. Die!"
So, exactly HOW do you "coexist" with people whose stated goal, whose sole purpose in life, is your complete and total
annihilation? How do you negotiate with those who seek to separate your head from the rest of your body? Do you
compromise by offering them a foot or a hand instead? Is an arm or a leg "common ground?"
How criminally naive or insanely ignorant do you have to be in order to believe that you can negotiate a compromise with
lunatics who are so thoroughly committed, so intensely dedicated to killing us all?
We're dealing with aliens here.
